Johnny K. Ma, D.D.S.
Dr. Ma received his Doctor of Dental
Surgery degree with honors from the University of Toronto in 1994. He
followed this with five years of residency in New York City. He received
his certificate for a 1 year General Practice Residency from Montefiore
Medical Center (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) in 1995. He
followed this up with a 2 year completion of the Dental Anesthesiology
Residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (Albert Einstein College
of Medicine). After this, he received his 2 year specialty training in
Pediatric Dentistry at St Barnabas Hospital (New York Hospital/Cornell
Medical Center) in 1999. He started private practice in 1999 and at that
time was also a Pediatric Dental/Dental Anesthesiology Attending at St
Barnabas Hospital. He also served as the Director of Dentistry/Staff
Dentist at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in New York , where he
treated many convalescent and disabled children.
After moving to the Southern California area in 2004, Dr. Ma continued
private practice in Orange County and North County San Diego. He
achieved board cerftication in Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of
the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American
Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He serves on the volunteer staff at
UCLA, Faculty of Dentistry.
Dr. Ma is one of only a handful of dual trained pediatric dentist/dental
anesthesiologist in North America. This combination of advanced dental
training, ensures your child’s safety will be protected. He is certified
in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and has been since 1994. He regularly
attends continuing education and professional meetings to stay current
with all aspects of both pediatric dentistry and anesthesia.
